DESCRIPTION

The Brooklyn Country Cantina (BCC) is a grassroots showcase for independent and innovative roots-based bands and brands from around the country. Returning to Austin for a tenth consecutive year, The BCC continues its run as a favorite annual day-party at South by Southwest (SXSW), one of the nation’s largest music festivals. Now in its 30th year, SXSW maintains a strong reputation as the place to see new artists that will shape the future of the music industry. Each spring, well over 100,000 people descend on Austin for the goliath music, film, and media fest. The Brooklyn Country Cantina provides an oasis amid the mayhem of the fest, featuring around thirty bluegrass, roots, rock, country, and Americana artists performing across 2 stages from noon to 2am, creating a one-stop-shop for progressive country music fans at a festive, house-party style event.

Located in the heart of Austin’s east side, the BCC is held at Licha’s, a celebrated urban cantina, known for its high-end interior Mexican cuisine, handmade masa, and expansive agave spirit selection. The cantina has become a lively hotspot for locals since opening in 2012. The rustic, casual venue features a large patio, courtyard bar, and restaurant with interior bar inside a converted house, originally built in the 1920s. The location is at the center of festival activity. The east side, (and particularly E 6th St.) is one of the city’s fastest growing and most vibrant neighborhoods in Austin.

The Brooklyn Cantina is a free event, open to the public, and does not require a SXSW wristband to enter.
RSVPs are encouraged to grant priority admittance when the venue is at capacity.

ARTISTS

Between 2 outdoor stages, there are up to 25 potential performance slots. Set times range from 35-45 minutes. Longer sets may be allotted if required. Live sound & engineer is provided for both stages. The E. 6th Street Stage is open to festival foot traffic as well as BCC attendees. This stage lends itself to singer/songwriters, duos, small combos, and bluegrass bands. The Courtyard Stage can only be accessed by BCC attendees passing through the interior bar or through the rear VIP entrance, lending itself to a more exclusive but lively atmosphere. The courtyard provides the largest capacity area of the venue, as well as an additional outdoor bar. It is generally better suited for larger bands and headlining artists.
